During our West Coast road-trip, we planned to visit several National Parks to immerse ourselves into something else rather than just cities in the USA. As we were driving the entire coast, from Seattle to San Diego, and still making it to some other states like Wyoming and Arizona, there … more »

USA & Puerto Rico
Some call it “the land of dreams”, and we are on a mission to find out why!
Whether it is thanks to something positive or negative, the USA never ceases to amaze us. We have done several trips in the country, from urban stays in New York City, Chicago, New Orleans or San Francisco, to nature oriented adventures in the National Parks, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. We even got married in Las Vegas!
These are some of our best travel stories, inspired by hours of driving around the USA, listening to local music, watching American movies and a few too many burgers:
- In San Francisco: a walking tour of the Tenderloin
- Bienvenidos to The Mission District in San Francisco
- Demystifying Car Rentals in the USA
- Deja-vu Travels in New York
- Williamsburg Flea Market: where hipsters rejoice
- Little Portugal in Newark
- The USA in my Mouth
- USA’s National Parks on a Budget
In Hawaii, we experienced a different side of the USA. In fact, depending on the setting, you’d almost forget these islands are a part of the same country. We tried stand up paddle for the first time in Maui and stayed at the most incredible tree house inside a volcano in Big Island. We’d love to go back one day!
Our latest trip to the US took us to Puerto Rico. During our entire stay in this beautiful territory, we couldn’t help but think how Puerto Ricans get the raw end of the deal when it comes to being American. They are neither here nor there, as they are limited by rules crafted in the mainland, yet they do not get to enjoy all the same rights folks in the continent do. Politics aside, we had an incredible time exploring the stunning coast of Puerto Rico and getting serendipitously lost and found in random charming towns.
The Groveland Hotel at Yosemite National Park
If you ever wondered what it would feel like to live inside a doll’s house, staying at The Groveland Hotel might be your best chance at experiencing that! Not only this entire hotel is set in an historic property (dating back to 1849) the interiors are decorated with detail, care and … more »
Small Town America
While driving through small towns and villages in the USA we decided our road trip needed a little bit of Country Music. I was never into this genre as such but let’s face it, just like a movie, a journey is not complete without an appropriate soundtrack. Someone was … more »
Sunset over Morro Bay
As we drove all the way down the pacific coast highway in the US we stopped for a couple of nights at Morro Bay. Morro Bay is a quaint seaside town in the San Luis Obispo county of California. It’s famous because of it’s backwaters and the Morro rock as … more »
Wanna tank up?
As we drove through Freedom, Wyoming towards the Grand Teton National Park we came across several tiny cowboy towns with relics from the good ol’ days of American road tripping. These little gas tanks still work! It’s amazing how well preserved they are considering how old they look. We were … more »
Travelers Rest Lodge: gateway to Glacier National Park
Travelers Rest Lodge, in East Glacier, is a great place to stay at while visiting Glacier National Park in Montana. This is a fairly off the beaten path part of the USA, and only those who truly wish to explore the wonders of nature contained inside this park, which belongs … more »
How we finally got Zara’s visa to India
I’ve been meaning to write about this for several weeks but the sense of relief (of getting the visa) was too overwhelming and I didn’t want to ruin it by remembering the infuriating behavior of the Consulate General of India, San Francisco. So last we wrote about this, we were … more »
Tall as snow!
There’s something particularly charming about visiting a beautiful place off season. I mean, specially when it comes to a natural landscape, who’s to say what’s on or off season? Something happens all year round anyway! We went to Glacier National Park, in the border between the US and Canada, right … more »
Heart Six Ranch: the cowboy life-style in Wyoming!
This is the kind of place I would love to go back to one day when we have kids. Heart Six is a beautiful collection of wooden cabins inside the ranch, in the most privileged of locations in Wyoming. The view of the surrounding snow-capped mountains you get … more »
Vegas Before Dark
When you think of Las Vegas, you probably picture the famous strip at night. Extravagant hotels, crazy constructions resembling famous architectural wonders from Paris or New York that are hard to ignore and, of course, the crowds ready to party! This is what Las Vegas looks like before dark: just … more »
