Hotel Casa Villa Arequipa, Peru

Hotel Boutique Casa Villa welcomes you to Arequipa!

Our first proper stop in Peru after crossing the boarder from Chile was Arequipa. The city is known for it’s charming historical center, impressive view of the volcano Misti and also as departure point to explore the Colca Valley, where the world’s deepest canyon is located.

We spent 4 days in town, recharging batteries before heading up to the mountains – we stayed at the lovely Hotel Casa Villa.

We were received by Antonio and Jose, the two brothers who own this newly opened hotel in a peaceful residential neighborhood. Both Antonio and Jose speak perfect English, which makes communication with non-Spanish speaking tourists a wonder. They are truly accommodating and this doesn’t just end in words: the place is modern, everything is new and looking pretty and, what’s more important, you can really rest well as the bedrooms are very comfortable.

Whenever you are not resting, you can enjoy the flat screen with cable TV and DVD player or listen to music with the radio/iPod dock in your room. If you are on more of an active mode, hit the working out machines on the rooftop terrace. Even if you are not one to go and pump up your muscles, going to the rooftop is a must, to enjoy a clear view of the powerful looking Misti volcano and the mountain ranges that spread as far as the eye can see.

Working out station - I must confess I didn't use it!

A complete breakfast is served every morning on the 1st floor, including coffee/tea, bread and spreads, cheese, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit juice and eggs made to order.

Although not walking distance from the historical center, this can be reached in less than 10 minutes using one of the “million” cabs passing by all day and night. The ride would cost you around 5soles – spending less than USD 2 is totally worth it to stay in this great place!

Nearby, there are two big malls with everything: we ate really good Peruvian food a couple of times in restaurants inside the mall, and enjoyed all the Chinese “chifa” options available right next door to the hotel – there are plenty of restaurants around.

Hotel Casa Villa is a 3 star hotel, with 4 star sleeping quality and 5 star attentive friendly service. We’d go back any day!
