Tea Nui Hotel & Cabins: welcoming A&Z to Easter Island

We landed on Easter Island with the excitement that one normally feels arriving at one of those places that you know you’ll most probably be at once in your lifetime! The team from Tea Nui knows how to receive eager tourists and introduces them to the Island in a way that blends the mysticism of the place with a sense of acquaintance after a few minutes.

Blanca picked us up from the airport (that is literally less than5 minutes drive from the hotel) and welcomed us with fresh flower necklaces. Instead of taking us directly to Tea Nui she went on a small drive around town. This short ride allowed us to understand where things are in town: the main road, the best restaurants, the way to the museum and, more or less, everything the town of Hanga Roa includes, as it is a small place. On the drive itself we were in love with Easter Island: in less than 10 minutes in the island we had already seen several Moai statues and even clicked some photos with a turtle Blanca spotted napping by the shore. Great start!

Upon arrival to the hotel, we were received by the friendly Moea. We had never been given such a good introduction to a new place as we got by her. The check-in was prompt (while we were sipping fresh fruit juice) but Moea took her time to show us in a map everything we could see and do in town – from archaeological spots to recommended places where to eat and local hangouts!

We spent 4 nights in a comfortable room with tons of natural light. If you book yourself into Tea Nui, you can choose between hotel rooms (private room + bathroom) or a family cabin. The rooms are ideal for a couple and apart from the standard bedroom furniture, they include a mini-fridge you can use to store some goodies and coffee/making facilities. Each room has a table with chairs outside on the terrace, which is the ideal spot to have breakfast at – the first meal of the day is served to your room or your own terrace spot!

The cabins are ideal for families or groups of friends. On a two floor building, the lower floor includes an equipped kitchen, dining area and living room with couch and TV. Upstairs, you’ll find two bedrooms – the main double room and the second one with single and bunk beds – and a bathroom. Cabins are the way to go if you plan to cook!

Tea Nui is just 3 minutes walking from the main road in Hanga Roa, where most restaurants and services are located. It’s ridiculously easy to walk to and from at night if you want to have dinner in town!

This is a very good choice of hotel if you want to be in the heart of town and, at the same time, 3 minutes walk from the shore – the best of both worlds! Another plus is that they’ll be happy to help you book all activities and tours in the island at fair prices, so be rest assured that the Tea Nui team is going to take good care of you!
