USA Hostels Hollywood – The Backpackers Walk of Fame!

If you thought staying in the heart of Hollywood on a backpacker’s budget is not an option, think again! USA Hostels Hollywood offers accommodation in dorms and private rooms aimed at budget travelers, steps away from the Walk of Fame and the major tourist attractions in the area.

 

You’re one minute walking from Hollywood Boulevard and 10 minutes to the nearest subway station, making it easy to reach anywhere else in Los Angeles. If you don’t fancy going around on your own, don’t worry! The hostel organizes a variety of activities everyday that will help you socialize with fellow travelers. During the day you can enjoy Beverly Hills tours (to spot the houses of the rich and the famous), hikes uphill to admire the views of the city and the famous Hollywood sign or go to the popular near-by beaches (Venice and Santa Monica) taking advantage of the free shuttles the hostel provides. There are plenty of tour companies around any corner in Hollywood, of course, but the activities offered by the hostel are way cheaper than those you’d get outside and you go with other travelers you meet at the hostel.

If you’re into nightlife, and because there is no shortage of that in Hollywood, you can also sign-up for affordable limo rides & pub crawl nights.

 

Under the motto “Eat. Sleep. Explore. Repeat.” USA Hostels Hollywood hasn’t disregarded meal times: breakfast is included in your room/dorm rate (including all-you-can-eat all-you-can-make pancakes, breads, spreads, juices, oatmeal, fruits and tea/coffee.) and there are affordable dinners on different nights of the week. BBQ on the patio and spaghetti nights are popular!

 

The kitchen is open most of the day and equipped for you to prepare your own meals – apart from the usual utensils there are a ton of spices available to make the Chef in you come alive. And as the hostel’s location is “in the centre of it all”, there are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and convenience stores around, some of them open 24hrs.

 

After dinner, there’s also in-house entertainment in the lounge: you can appreciate some Hollywood-grown talent at the open mic nights or laugh your night away with stand up shows.

 

This hostel is not the kind of place one would come to just sleep at night – doing that would be missing out on a lot! There’s music playing all day, a lot of opportunities to chat with fellow travelers and overall there’s a fun and young atmosphere.

 

When it comes to the practical side of things, they’ve got it covered too! The rooms are compact but have everything you need. In fact, in the dorms, you even get the specially designed “privacy pods”: instead of just having a bunk bed, you also get your own shelf, LED light and outlet and some space to store your belongings, read, use your laptop and charge your gadgets. If you need more room than this, there are available big size lockers with charging stations inside as well. You’ll be socializing all day, so it’s good to get a little bit of rest and “me time” too, even when sleeping in a dorm room.

To complement the rooms, there’s plenty of hot water in the shower, there are affordable in-house laundry facilities, vending machines with snacks and drinks, WIFI, computers and if there’s something you need, just ask the guys at the reception! Thanks to them we ended up seeing the Backstreet Boys at the walk of fame, getting their own star. Not our typical activity, I know, but totally fun thing to do on our first day in Hollywood!
