Millions of pigeons and a story..

This is Plaza Murillo in La Paz, Bolivia. A historical place. This is the birthplace of the resistance against Spanish colonial power in Latin America.

On July 16, 1809 Pedro Domingo Murillo famously said that the Bolivian revolution was igniting a lamp that nobody would be able to turn-off. He was hung at this Plaza that night.  At the time, this plaza was known as Plaza de Espanoles.

Today the Plaza is full of thousands of pigeons that are fed by kids and adults of all ages. There is barely an inch of floor to walk on.

Times sure have changed!
