Tulum – Imagining the Spanish arriving to Mexico

This ancient Mayan fort was one of the first points of contact with the Spanish. It was a major sea-port for Mayan trade as well as a point of defence.

Definitely one of the most dramatic sites in Mexico. The confluence of the ruins and the sea with the strong winds and the pristine white sand make for an impressive impression!
