Other worldly landscape in the Atacama desert

Welcome to the driest place on earth!

The Atacama desert is the driest place on earth. Scientists from NASA studied it before the US led Mars mission as the climate is supposed to be quite similar to the red planet. What’s more, there are few deserts with such dramatic landscapes as this. Sun scorched earth with cracks all over against a backdrop of snow capped volcanic peaks. Then, when the sun goes down, you will be treated to the most amazing night-sky that I have personally ever seen. The milky way is clearly visible with the naked eye!

Stunning by day and night. When are you heading there?

  • The milky way must have been so stunning. What more when seen with my bare eyes, too. This is my first time hearing about the Atacama desert. But the night sky scenery interests me much.

  • Oh wow! I have a student from Chile in my class at the moment. He’s from near this part of Chile too, and the way he describes it is incredible. I’d love to go there one day – maybe 2016!
