Atacama Dunes

The dunes in the Atacama

During a tour around the Atacama desert we stopped at this massive fluffy dune. The sand was so soft that it got in our shoes.

The Atacama desert is dry. So dry that it carries the title ‘Driest place on earth’. Your skin will crack, your nose might bleed, but you will definitely revel in its untouched beauty and remoteness.

The temperature variations are huge. The day routinely clocks over 30 degrees Celsius and at night the mercury plummets to almost zero. Due to this, you need to be equipped for different kinds of weather. At bedtime, we got under the covers and due to the dryness a lot of static built up on our skin. When we decided to kiss goodnight we had a few green sparks fly! ZING!
