I couldn't agree with you more!

When I went on a three month trip through Europe and Asia after a break-up (which I'd bought a one-way ticket to move in the the guy in Europe) it really got to me when people said that due to my break up, "at least you got a holiday out of it!" ... what!? The one I paid for? The one I'm on when I'd rather be finishing my degree so I can do this full-time? The one that cost much more than it should have in flights and that I'm really heartbroken throughout? The one I had to orgnaise while on the road because I only had three weeks notice between breaking up and my plane taking off? Yeah, it's really fun guys.

I'm not complaining about travel, I love what I do! but I wish people could see it for what it is. Some people choose to have things, and that's nice. Everything in their lives is manicured, beautiful and they own it. They go on lugsuary holidays with their children and I don't begrudge them that. But I want what I work for, I want my adventure...

Hi Karina.. yeah, I think it does help that I am in a new place (India) and not back to what used to be my regular life, in Dubai. India does a great job in keeping me entertained (with good and bad things) and the novelty doesn't wear off that quickly either... 'cause there are so many new things to see, do, learn!...
In that sense, I'm SO GLAD I'm not back in Dubai.. but still, we feel the yearning of being on the road.. and that's why tonight itself we're heading to Hong Kong and Macau for 10 days! :D

Hey Zara, im curious to know how are you feeling now since you have been back for a while? Does the yearning ease off a little while?
Does it help that you are not back in Dubai but in India?

" I fear more than anything else: and that is having a mediocre existence." So much better to try and not succeed than to never try at all. Tons of adventures out there to be had, even in one's own backyard. Keep leading an interesting life!

I agree with you, Zarek! I'd rather read about personal things in travel blogs too! Not just "to-lists" or other basic travel advice that can be found in regular travel guides and everywhere...

What I meant to say is that I'd rather write about experiences as they happen, here at Backpack ME, than talk about them after getting home: it's too hard to condense everything that happened in 1 year on a single conversation, so casually!...

This is a nice list.. I'm not so sure I agree with the 'no one ever cares about what you did' thing though.. I'm more into blogs where I have a personal connection to the reader, rather than a bunch of random stuff or extreme depth and detail into the history of the location. The most interesting stories for me are often exactly about what someone did - which made the trip unique to them.
