Thanks you Deborah!
This is the kind of landscape that , in a way, reminds you of how small you are in the world. Such grand and unspoiled places should indeed be visited while they still last!
Happy travels! :)

Wonderful picture, guys! I can just imagine how it must feel to lay in that hammock on the top of the world. I remember the feeling I had when we climbed to the top of the tallest pyramid in Tikal, Guatemala and could see for miles all around, the dense jungle rising and falling as other temples, yet to be excavated, still slumbered under the earth, It's a very amazing experience to witness these sorts of landscapes! Thank you for sharing this beautiful one with us!

Hi Amy!
We stayed at Hostal del Rio: quite basic, but clean and affordable, good value for money (USD22 for double room, including breakfast April 2012). http://www.guimun.com/ecuador/negocios/1605/hostal-del-rio
As for the tour, I believe the agency was this one: http://www.madreselvaecuador.com/ All the agencies are along the main street in Puyo and offer pretty much the same thing at the same price.
The hike from the photo was done with the one day tour to the Amazon. They took us in the van up to some point where there was a souvenir shop and all and we climbed up a couple of hundred stairs to this view point, the highlight of the day!
Cheers!

Thanks Drew! :)

This is "close by" to the town of Puyo, in Ecuador. We drove aprox. 1 hr from there into the jungle and then climbed a series of steps to reach this view point. Absolutely worth it! :)

Yeah the place is so calm and peaceful! You could try staying there, they do have some cabins right around there but no access to food/supplies - so you'll have to bring your own.

Love this pic. I could imagine just swinging on the hammock, listening to the jungle and watching the world go by.
