Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia in Barcelona

A trip to Barcelona is really worth it if only to see the beautiful buildings created by legendary architect Antoni Gaudi. Gaudi’s philosophy was one that wanted to fuse nature and architecture. He believed that as you never see straight lines in nature, architecture with straight lines looks unnatural. Thus, his buildings always had lines that were curved.

The Sagrada Familia is one his masterpieces. He designed it to look like a forest. Thus you see pillars that look like trees reaching out into the sky! There aren’t any straight lines and thus the structure really does look like a forest. This photo is a shot of the roof as seen from below. It looks like a clump of trees and the sun shining through between them. Absolutely amazing!
