I read that Peru allows visa-free entry Schengen visa holders, Bolivia as I am planning to cross. . I said no, she immediately said ‘I will not let you go’. She called someone and I tried to speak but she said she does not need an explanation. I’m glad you have thought of a way to get around an inconvenient situation.

Hello Ashray,
I did face some weird issues with the Indian staff in Mumbai and Delhi. Once 3 people, one after the other the same questions and I still do not know why. But I finally got through.

Another time a woman in Mumbai airport asked me if I had a return Ticket. I said no, she immeadiately said 'I will not let you go'. She called someone and I tried to speak but she said she does not need an explanation. Two guards came, i guess to escort me away and she then said show me your VISA, probably to report this to some Airlines. The VISA was a permanent residence with 10 years validity. Then she said- 'why did you not say so?' forgetting that she had asked me not to speak like 30 seconds back. Anywasy I was allowed.

Hi Ashray and Zara,
Your blog is very helpful and well informative. I live in Munich, Germany on a permement resident permit. I am planning a trip to Peru, Bolivia and Argentina in April 2019. I read that Peru allows visa free entry Schengen visa holders, Bolivia as I am planning to cross the border from Peru side along the lake Titicaca as per your info I will get the visa in advance, and same of Argentina I will apply for the visa before. The only concern while applying for visa is that how to show the return ticket from each country, I am traveling with couple of European friends so our Itinerary is still basic and have not booked anything yet and it will take some time to finanlize the accomodation and intracountry transport, (which also makes sense in some level as booking everything from here would cost more as I have already travelled to Colombia and Cuba). Well, My question is mainly regarding how to tackle the visa application document with the proof of returning/leaving the country? and Also if the visa expiry is given to that exact date?

Thank you,
Dnyandeep

Hi Ashray, what about when applying for visas at embassies/consulates insisting on a return ticket..the visa procedure usually takes 1 week at any embassy on an average..so technically if we cancel our ticket within 24 hours, we dont have a valid ticket..do the embassy officials confirm the return tickets by checking the PNR on airline websitess? is there a risk of visa rejection ?

...so tired of hearing of 9/11 ...not once have I heard from these whining hypocrites of the millions who have lost their lives due to the epic american bungling of a response to a crime.

Sooooo frustrating! I've had this a lot on an Australian passport too, actually... perhaps it depends on the countries we visit? Good tips though - I hope it remains a possibility in the future!

Hi Ashray!
This makes a lot of sense! I would have done the same thing. They are probably just being cautious because as you said of the slave trafficking and I suppose also because of terrorism. If you remember, the muslims who attacked the USA on 9/11/01 killing 3000 people only had one way tickets. However, I'm glad you have thought of a way to get around an inconvenient situation!

You two, enjoy your travels! I love reading about them!
