Hi A&Z,

This is Chirag from Mumbai. After contemplating for a lot of years, I have now finally taken the plunge and quit my job to travel (don't know yet for how long) and looking to fly into South America next month (mid/end of March). I stumbled upon your site while planning/researching and I so much appreciate all the info, pics and insights you beautiful people have added on this blog. I am truly inspired by both of you and hope to bump into you someday somewhere.

Already, getting a lot of tips from your articles, but would you be able to offer any suggestion in terms of being able to hire (or probably buy a cheap old) caravan? Given the time of the year, I intend to start off with Patagonia before the weather turns harsher - so fly into Ushuaia and slowly make my way up (don't have concrete plans and prefer it that way). I read your article on the ridiculous costs of one way rentals and don't mind changing my starting point to another city or for that matter start my travel from all the way up north/any other country either - essentially I don't really have a proper itinerary and flexible as such; at the mo, just looking to decide a starting point and get going while I await visas and unwind other things back home.

Would be good to get our views/suugesions.
Cheers
Chirag

So, any expert advise will be hugely appreciated

Yes, it seems like it's changed. Now all USA visa holders are visa exempt - however, USA C (transit) visa holders cannot use the visa exemption in Chile.

I was recently told by the Chilean Embassy in DC that all Indian passport holders with a valid US visa do not need to apply for a Tourist visa. This was as of August 22. The previous update from April 1 2019 states it was for B1/b2 holders only. Has anyone else run into this?

Thanks Ashray, one quick suggestion please... I have uploaded all the documents like PCC, MEDICAL, WORK CONTRACT, INVITATION LETTER (ALL APOSTILLED) but as I got the COVER LETTER late I was not able to Upload that... I hope that this might not impact the application and get it rejected.. I have the original which I can present during interview ... Thanks

You just have to wait until they get a response from the Ministry in Chile. It can take a few weeks.

I have a US H1B visa with more than 6 months validity. Do you know if I need a visa to tour Chile ? Various sites say visa exemption is only for B1/B2 visa holders and permanent residents. Does not make much sense to me. I plan to call the Consulate and check with them.

Hi, I have been following your post for quite a long time.. they're really helpful.. I have applied for VISA Subject to Contract, Work Contract has been provided by my organization. I have submitted the application with all necessary Apostille and Cover letter with contract details. My current status shows “En Espera” Is this means it’s under process and I have to wait for it’s processing.. I can't reach the Embassy number as it's automatic calling system... Can anyone please help what should I do.. I have applied for Dependents Visa too and the status is same "En Espera"
