I think the (un)safety issue is a bit over hyped to be honest. We felt generally safe, even carrying cameras and valuables around. I guess it all depends where you go: I think the most unsafe areas tend to be in the North of Mexico, not really were we visited. As per Mexico City, I do hear it has its safe and unsafe areas, like most capital / big cities, I guess. Be sensible and don&#039;t flash your stuff around, just in case, particularly at night. But don&#039;t over stress either! It&#039;s really not that bad and it&#039;s for sure an amazing place that should be enjoyed without worrying all of the time! :)

PS: The only time we saw military people was on the bus trips, whenever there would be a check point on the road. Don&#039;t remember seeing any other military presence in the airport or anywhere else.
