Atop the mountain.

One of the most iconic sights in Hong Kong is the Buddha on top of the mountain. Surrounded by a quaint monastery and some really hike-worthy national parks, a trip to the Buddha makes for a pretty fantastic excursion. The monastery is relaxing and always has some incense.

It’s easy enough to get here by public transport. There’s also a nice outlet mall with most of the big brands where you can pick up some good deals (we spent the evening shopping!). So take the metro to Tung Chung. From there you can take the cable car or a ~45 minute bus ride up to the Buddha. You’ll see the two malls when you get out of the subway.

Zen and shopping in a single outing. Topped off with some awesome Japanese food for dinner. Ah! What a day!
